To support our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Procurement professional with a strong commercial buying background to lead and develop our procurement activity.
The Role
As Head of Procurement, you will take ownership of procurement across the business, managing both direct materials and wider operational spend. The role has a strong commercial and value-driven focus, with clear accountability for delivering cost savings, margin protection, and improved commercial terms across the supply chain.
You will be responsible for transforming procurement into a strategic, results-focused value driver, supporting operational teams while maintaining commercial control. A key element of the role will be navigating the complexity of wholesaler rebate structures, pricing terms, and market maximum contractor rates, ensuring Clarkson Evans consistently secures best-in-market outcomes.
This role will suit someone who enjoys being commercially accountable for results, rather than operating in a purely compliance-driven procurement environment.
Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, and maintain a procurement strategy aligned with Clarkson Evans' operational and commercial objectives
* Establish pragmatic procurement controls that support commercial decision-making and protect margins without slowing down operations
* Lead supplier selection, tendering, negotiation, and onboarding processes
* Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers and manufacturers
* Manage contracts, pricing agreements, and renewals to ensure continuity of supply and best value
* Manage and optimise wholesaler rebate agreements, discount structures, and commercial terms to deliver measurable cost savings and margin improvement
* Provide clear visibility and reporting on rebates, pricing performance, and commercial benefits realised
* Support wider management team to maximise the value achieved in procurement. This covers all cost centres including fleet (vans), tools, equipment, PPE, uniforms, IT and sub-contract services
* Work closely with senior leadership and operational teams to forecast demand and plan procurement activity
Requirements
* Proven experience in a Procurement Manager or senior buying role, ideally within construction, M&E, electrical contracting, or a high-volume trade-supply environment
* A strong commercial buying background, with a demonstrable track record of negotiating cost savings and improved supplier terms
* Experience managing wholesaler rebate schemes, complex pricing structures, and contractor rate negotiations
* Confidence operating in a margin-sensitive, fast-paced environment where procurement decisions directly impact profitability
* Strong negotiation skills and the ability to take a robust but professional approach with suppliers
* Experience managing end-to-end procurement activity, including sourcing, tendering, contract management, and supplier performance
* Ability to work collaboratively with operational and senior managers while maintaining commercial discipline
* Strong analytical skills, with confidence using data to drive commercial decisions
