PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £43,000 - £53,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Want to help BBC Sport deliver the biggest events and stories to our audiences every day? BBC Audio Sport is looking for an experienced Senior Journalist to deliver and help elevate 5 Live Sport's already industry leading podcast slate, including Football Daily, Women's Football Weekly, Rugby Union Weekly, Test Match Special, 5 Live Boxing with Steve Bunce, F1: Chequered Flag and the FPL Podcast from BBC Sport. A strong commitment to delivering content across all BBC Sport platforms is essential. We're also keen to hear from Digital creatives, who can help grow and maximise our live and on-demand content across 5 Live Sport social media channels.
WHY JOIN THE TEAM
We're looking for creative, collaborative individuals to manage and produce high-quality, engaging sport content both on-demand and in the digital space for an award-winning network. Day-to-day you'll work closely with Audio Sport and BBC Sport producers across audio and digital, on-air talent, and use your editorial judgement to ensure content makes impact and meets standards across platforms. You will also provide an element of editorial leadership and supervision to the 5 Live Sport team, as well as managing your own short term and long-term projects.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
Day-to-day management and delivery of the 5 Live Sport podcast slate both in audio and across digital platforms alongside our team of highly skilled producers.
Develop original ideas with our podcast producers for engaging content, including some podcast production when required.
Liaising with BBC Sport departments to maximise promotional opportunities for our content and adapting content for multiple BBC platforms to maximise reach.
Working closely with 5 Live Sport's Podcast & Digital Lead to develop and plan our on-demand offering ahead of major sport events through to delivery.
Making sound editorial decisions and ensure content meets BBC standards, you'll be the first point of contact for podcast compliance around our bespoke recorded content.
Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships, briefing contributors effectively to enhance on-air performance and giving and receiving feedback constructively, fostering positive teamwork.
Working alongside 5 Live Sport's Digital Senior Journalist to develop the visualisation of our podcast slate, as well as working across staff deployment on a week-by-week basis, when required.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Extensive production experience of podcasts
Experience of working with/creating digital content.
Proven ability to write for podcast audiences, adapting to different presenters and programmes.
Proven and demonstrable knowledge and passion for a wide range of sports, including 5 Live Sport output and how to appeal to different audiences.
Experience of prioritising and delegating to maintain effective performance.
