Job summary
Perinatal Mental Health Team is a specialist mental health team that supports women and birthing people in the perinatal period with moderate to severe mental health difficulties using a multi-disciplinary approach. We are excited to be offering Specialist or Highly Specialist Applied Psychologist posts within the Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Community Service North Yorkshire and York. This post will provide services to the York and Scarborough geographic areas.
We are a specialist service that strives to deliver excellent standards of care to expectant and new mothers with severe and complex mental health problems. We are looking for a highly motivated practitioners with an interest in perinatal mental health, however further specialist training and supervision will be provided to the successful candidates.
The Specialist or Highly Specialist Applied Psychologist role is key to the provision of high-quality care for patients, carers, and families within Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Community Service. This role is highly valued in the team, Care Group and within the Trust, with good professional support.
We welcome applications from existing Band 8a or Band 7 to 8a Applied Psychologist development post.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide specialist psychological assessments, formulation and therapies and be part of an MDT approach. Alongside direct clinical work, providing consultation, training, and clinical supervision to other team members as well as trainee and assistant psychologists are integral to the role.
As a senior member of the team, the post holder will be expected to demonstrate good leadership skills in supporting MDT colleagues to work psychologically and use person-centred principles. Innovation and engagement in research and development activity is actively encouraged.
This vacancy is open to either experienced Band 8a or Band 7 as a development post with appropriate Job Description and banding being applied accordingly to the successful candidate. Successful candidates who are Band 7 will be expected to work towards the competencies of the higher band within an agreed time frame; being regraded to the 8a role upon successful completion.
The post holder may have to travel across the locality as required, therefore transport is essential. The post holder will holdand will use valid UK driving licence OR provides evidence of proposed alternative.

Qualifications
Essential
1. Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.
2. HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
3. Post doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice - Band 8a
4. Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees
5. Trained in care co-ordination
6. Evidence of continuing professional development

7. Registration with BPS
8. Post-graduate qualification showing evidence of supervised practice in an evidence-based psychological therapeutic model
Experience
Essential
9. Working as a qualified applied psychologist within the designated service including a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and a range of clinical severity across a range of care settings or if applying at Band 7 experience of working within mental health
10. Exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care as a care coordinator within the context of a multidisciplinary team.
