Kinetic Recruitment are looking for an experienced Industrial Paint Applicator to join an established team in Dukinfield. It is a very hands-on role which involves preparing and coating steel components used in industrial settings.
You will be primarily based in a ventilated spray bake facility where you will be exposed to typical industrial conditions (dust, noise, and elevated temperatures). The work can be physically demanding, requiring stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to operate in challenging environments such as confined spaces or at height
As a team leader, you'll also help guide others and support the smooth running of operations.
The Job and Responsibilities of the Industrial paint applicator
* Prepare pipe surfaces by hand abrasion, power tooling, or chemical cleaning to required standards (e.g., SSPC/NACE)
* Coordinate with QA/QC personnel
* Operate and maintain painting equipment safely and efficiently
* Apply industrial coatings (epoxy, polyurethane, zinc-rich primers, etc.) using airless, conventional, or plural-component spray systems
* Date rotation of paint products
* Record and report work progress
* Interpret isometric drawings, plans and coating specifications
* Work at height or in confined spaces (e.g., inside tanks or pipe racks) as required
* Ensure coating systems meet specifications on thickness (WFT) including upper and lower limits
* Mix and handle coating materials in accordance with manufacturer's technical data sheets (TDS)
* Mask off flanges, threads, and valves to avoid overspray and ensure protection of non-coated areas
What We're Looking For in the new Industrial paint Applicator
* Previous experience (2-5 years) in industrial painting/coating, ideally on pipework or structural steel.
* Relevant certifications (e.g., NACE Level 1, SSPC PCI, ICorr, ICATS) are desirable.
* Additional qualifications such as OHEC and FLT are a plus.
* Skilled in using inspection tools (DFT gauge, WFT comb, etc.).
* Strong understanding of coating standards (NACE, SSPC, ISO, ASTM).
* Able to interpret technical and safety documentation (TDSs, SDSs).
* Fit-tested for respiratory protection and comfortable working in varied environments.
* Safety-conscious with a solid understanding of job-related hazards.
* Familiar with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards.
* Flexible, self-motivated, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
* Able to make decisions under pressure and meet project deadlines.
Job Details:
* £14.00 - £18.00 (DOE) £27,300 - £35,100
* 37.5 hours per week over 5 days, with variable start times
