IN HOUSE LEGAL COUNSEL - RENEWABLES [5 - 7 YRS PQE] EDINBURGH
This role sits within a busy, pan-European legal team and focuses primarily on providing legal support for our client's UK renewable energy portfolio, while also contributing to broader European initiatives.
The position involves a broad range of responsibilities, including advising on project development, construction, and operation of wind, solar, and battery storage projects. It includes drafting and negotiating a wide variety of contracts—such as EPC, grid connection, O&M, lease, and joint venture agreements—while ensuring compliance with UK energy, environmental, planning, and land-use regulations.
The UK Legal Counsel will support permitting and regulatory processes, engage with external stakeholders, manage legal disputes, and supervise external counsel when needed. The role also includes supporting M&A and financing transactions, contributing to internal policy implementation, and maintaining legal documentation.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor in England & Wales and/or Scotland with 5–7 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in the renewable energy sector, and strong expertise in UK administrative, real estate, and/or construction law. Strong contract negotiation skills, the ability to manage complex projects, and experience in a multinational or energy-focused environment are essential.
