I have a traumatic brain injury but live independently in Newton. I am partially sighted and have a slightly unsteady gait. I like to stay fit and active to support both my physical and mental health. I like to attend the gym in Penlan four times per week. Driver required to take me to the gym. Male / female preferred – no preference. Hours of work Mondays: 08.30–12.00* *Other hours to be agreed at interview. Total: 6 hours per week Rate of pay £13.13 Essential I need you to: • Drive me to the gym in Penlan; • Spot for me when I’m lifting weights overhead. Desirable I’d prefer if: • You have previous experience of working with people with disabilities; • Enjoy being in the gym. I’d like support with: • Transport to the gym; • Overhead lifts. I will need my PA to: • Respect and understand the importance of privacy and confidentiality; • Be confident, mature and have patience; • Be dependable and arrive on time; • Be friendly with an easy-going manner; • Be adaptable and flexible; • Be supportive but not take over; • Have business insurance on your car to take clients out. Concerning the position A trial period will be necessary in the first instance in the form of a six-month probationary period. Salary will be paid monthly (Annual leave is calculated on a pro rata basis). A DBS MUST be processed prior to any commencement of employment. Costs of DBS will be met by Swansea council where applicant is eligible.
