Job description
This role is ideal for a tutor who understands the importance of relationship‑building, emotional safety, and flexible learning, and who is confident supporting a learner who is not currently accessing a mainstream school setting.
The Role
1. Provide 1:1 tuition in a low‑pressure, student‑led environment
2. Prioritise building trust and confidence before introducing academic learning
3. Support gradual re‑engagement with education
4. Adapt learning to suit the individual’s pace, interests, and emotional needs
5. Introduce academic content sensitively once the learner is ready
6. Encourage motivation and positive attitudes towards future learning and qualifications
Essential Requirements
7. Minimum of 6 months’ experience working within a UK based educational setting
8. Ability to build positive relationships with young people
9. Patient, flexible, and emotionally aware approach
10. Confidence working 1:1 and adapting sessions as needed
Desirable Experience
11. Experience supporting pupils with EBSA
12. Experience working with SEN, including anxiety‑related needs
13. Background in alternative provision, home tutoring, or pastoral support
