We’re looking for an experienced communications and marketing professional to join one of our new Specialist Delivery teams as a Senior Communications and Marketing Delivery Partner. In this influential role, you’ll help our places and projects across the North achieve ambitious growth targets aligned with our 10‑year People and Nature Thriving strategy.

You'll lead communications and marketing across the North and be responsible for planning and delivering activity at a regional level. Ensuring communications and marketing activity is delivered in the most cost-effective and efficient way you’ll be supporting our audience objectives and delivering against organisational strategy. Working across multiple channels, including owned, earned, paid and borrowed, you will co-ordinate, monitor and optimise delivery, and work in collaboration withthe communications and marketing job family from across the organisation.

This role can be based any of our regional hubs in Cumbria, Manchester, Altrincham, York or Newcastle (whichever is the nearest National Trust regional office to your home).

Contract: This is a fixed term contract due to end when the postholder returns to the role. At this point we cannot confirm exactly how long this contract will last, but it is unlikely to be more than 24 months.

What it's like to work here

You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team of experts including curators, archaeologists, conservators, surveyors and fellow fundraisers who work together to deliver the greatest possible public benefit through our national strategy. It’s a supportive, specialist environment where professional expertise is valued and shared, and where every contribution makes a tangible difference to the places and communities we serve. You’ll line manage two members of the regional Communications and Marketing team, and provide leadership to over 20 property-based Communications and Marketing Officers.

As this role covers the North region, your contractual work location will be the nearest National Trust regional office to your home. You’ll split your time flexibly between home working, office days and site visits, and you should expect to be at a National Trust place around 40–60% of your week. We’ll discuss the balance at interview.

What you'll be doing

One of two regional Communications & Marketing Delivery Partners in the North, you'll work collaboratively with national, regional and property colleagues to plan and deliver outstanding communications activity.

Over the next 24 months, you'll play a leading role in:

•Leading audience-driven growth using insight and analysis to target opportunities, while delivering marketing and communications for national initiatives and place-based experiences that grow visits, strengthen member value and reach more people.

•Implementing our audience led regional marketing plan for 2027 and 2028 ensuring strategic alignment and that marketing budget is well managed and provides the best return on investment

•Providing input and expertise into property marketing plans and activity, ensuring these are audience-led and align to People and Place plans and strategic priorities

•High profile contentious issues management, providing strategic comms leadership to mitigate reputational risk, coach peers, and work collaboratively with senior leaders on responses

•Providing great people management to two Communications and Marketing Delivery Partners, carrying out end of year review meetings, objective setting and providing ongoing development and support through 1-2-1s

•Resource planning and management working closely with your Specialist Delivery Manager to prioritised delivery against KPIs and objectives

•Directly delivering activity across our regional campaigns with some project-focused delivery.

Who we're looking for

1. Demonstrable knowledge and experience of the full strategic marketing planning process and of delivering campaigns across the full spectrum of marketing and communications channels
2. Experience of issues management and of working under pressure and to tight deadlines
3. A leader for inclusion, supporting the Trust’s dedication to inclusion and diversity
4. Able to take a consultative approach, acting as an expert in your field to guide decision making
5. Excellent communication skills with an ability to build partnerships and relationships with people at all levels, internally and externally
6. A recognised marketing communications qualification or equivalent level of experience
