About us Prometheus Safe & Secure is a specialist provider of secure patient transport and enhanced observation services for people with mental health needs. Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week across the UK, we work in partnership with the NHS and private healthcare providers to deliver safe, dignified and compassionate support when it is needed most. Our services include secure patient transport for planned and urgent transfers, including those under the Mental Health Act, as well as enhanced observation and “bed watch” support in hospitals, A&E departments and Section 136 suites. Every journey and placement is managed with patient safety, dignity and respect at the forefront. We are regulated by the Care Quality Commission and are members of the Independent Ambulance Association. Our Birmingham service currently holds a CQC overall rating of “Good.” Clinical governance, safeguarding and staff training are central to everything we do, ensuring we meet the highest standards of quality and compliance. Our teams are made up of experienced mental health professionals and trained support staff who provide therapeutic, person-centred care designed to minimise distress and protect wellbeing. With a dedicated operations hub, we provide nationwide coverage, rapid response and a seamless service that reduces pressure on frontline healthcare providers. Prometheus Safe & Secure is part of the RCI Group, alongside Prometheus Complex Care, enabling us to offer a complete package of secure transport, enhanced observation and specialist staffing. Together we provide continuity of care and a trusted partner for healthcare organisations across the UK. About the Role Prometheus is a specialist provider of secure transport and complex care services for mental health patients, working with NHS Trusts, Acute Trusts, Local Authorities and independent healthcare organisations. Our focus is on safety, dignity and high quality care, delivered by teams who understand the needs of people experiencing mental health crises and requiring specialist support. As the business continues to grow, we are strengthening our operational leadership to support the delivery of safe, lawful and consistent services. The Clinical Support Manager plays a central role in ensuring that services are delivered to the highest clinical, legal and operational standards. This role combines clinical expertise, operational oversight and leadership of the HUB and field based teams. It is suited to an experienced mental health clinician who can interpret legislation, respond to complex operational challenges and support staff working in high pressure environments. The role offers the opportunity to influence service quality across a rapidly expanding organisation that is pushing for market leader status in the sector. Job Opportunity The Clinical Support Manager is responsible for ensuring that Prometheus delivers safe, lawful and high quality care across secure transport and complex care services. The role combines operational management of the HUB, leadership of frontline teams and expert oversight of Mental Health Act requirements. This post requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to manage real time operational pressures and the confidence to guide staff, liaise with external agencies and uphold Prometheus standards. Key responsibilities include • Taking full responsibility for the HUB, ensuring all operations run efficiently and issues are resolved promptly • Coordinating service delivery for Secure Transport and Complex Care, including alignment with contractual requirements, authorisation processes and billing accuracy • Monitoring call quality, supporting performance improvement and providing coaching and feedback to team members • Ensuring compliance with clinical guidelines, policies, protocols and best practice standards • Managing shift planning, attendance escalation and task allocation to ensure consistent coverage and safe service delivery • Using performance data to understand trends and support continuous improvement • Providing leadership and guidance to staff handling complex calls, escalations or challenging situations • Collaborating with other team leaders and stakeholders to maintain consistent service delivery and resolve operational issues • Leading improvements in HUB processes and systems and encouraging team involvement in innovation activity • Delivering team meetings and training sessions that support skills development and positive team culture • Exercising expert oversight of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and DoLS, ensuring that patients are conveyed and supported lawfully and in line with the Code of Practice • Liaising with external professionals including Approved Mental Health Professionals to ensure lawful detention and conveyance • Maintaining accurate records of legal status and supporting patients, relatives and staff in understanding rights, safeguards and processes • Keeping up to date with legislation, policy and best practice related to mental health law and contributing to training and development in this area Company Benefits Employee Assistant Program Free on-site parking at all bases Free company uniform Mandatory training Enrolment in the companys pension scheme (The People Pension) Essential Skills • Registered Mental Health Nurse with valid NMC registration • At least two years post registration experience within mental health or a related healthcare setting • Leadership experience with exposure to clinical practice and quality improvement in acute, community or secure mental health services • Strong working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 as amended 2007, the Use of Force Act 2018, the Health and Social Care Act 2012 and the Health and Care Act 2022 • Competence applying the Mental Health Act in clinical settings and supporting others to do the same • Experience providing clinical supervision, mentorship and guidance to clinical staff • Experience managing clinical incidents including safeguarding concerns • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet performance targets • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate compassionately and effectively at all organisational levels • Ability to influence and negotiate in complex or pressured situations • Desirable experience includes operations management, mental health community work, ambulance or acute sector experience, logistics environments and advanced clinical education DEI Statement At Prometheus Safe & Secure, we believe diversity strengthens our team and enhances the care we deliver.
