Job Description
Elgin Energy is seeking a dedicated Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Advisor to join our team, focusing on maintaining high HSE standards throughout our project pipeline—from development to construction and energization.
Your primary responsibility will be to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, fostering a safe working environment for workers, contractors, suppliers, consultants, and stakeholders. This includes conducting risk assessments and promoting safe, efficient practices aligned with legal requirements, codes of practice, and our HSE system.
To succeed, you must have hands-on experience managing HSE in the UK renewable energy sector and strong stakeholder management skills to build positive relationships across project teams.
* Develop and update HSE documentation: policies and procedures aligned with UK legislation, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.
* Advise and guide management and workers on health and safety practices, equipment, and emergency procedures.
* Plan HSE activities, set objectives, and establish performance standards.
* Audit and review HSE performance for continuous improvement.
* Conduct risk assessments and implement control measures.
* Inspect sites regularly to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
* Coordinate with Construction Project Managers to ensure safe practices by contractors and subcontractors in accordance with CDM 2015.
* Supervise PPE use and safety practices on site.
* Report and investigate incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions.
* Deliver safety training and emergency drills.
* Liaise with authorities during inspections and ensure issues are addressed promptly.
* Participate in HSE meetings with contractors and suppliers.
* Maintain accurate safety records and report KPIs monthly.
Your Profile
* Relevant third-level qualification in health and safety, environment, engineering, or related field.
* Certifications such as NEBOSH General Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely.
* Deep knowledge of UK HSE legislation and standards.
* Familiarity with ISO 45001 and 14001 management systems.
* 3-5 years of HSE experience in construction, preferably in large energy projects.
* Experience in risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety training.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office and resource management tools.
* Valid UK driver’s license.
