SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Reports to: Service Manager

Job overview:

The Service Technician plays a vital role in this mission by ensuring our emergency vehicles and life-saving equipment remain fully operational. You'll be part of a team that directly impacts the safety of those who protect us, making sure police, fire, and ambulance vehicles are ready when they're needed most.

This hybrid role combines hands-on technical work at our headquarters with field service visits to customer sites, providing a mix of practical problem-solving and real-world interaction. You'll use app-based tools to log service jobs, provide feedback, and track issues — helping us maintain the highest quality standards and continually improve our products.

This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about their work, enjoys working with their hands, and thrives on meeting new people, with the flexibility to travel semi-regularly and make a tangible difference every day.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Support & Service:

* Attend customer sites to carry out servicing, product checks, and basic repairs.
* Use app-based service software to log jobs, provide feedback, and report outcomes in real time.
* Handle customer queries in a professional manner, escalating more complex issues to the Service Manager.
* Work within company warranty and return procedures to ensure customer satisfaction.

Workshop / HQ Work:

* Assist with product servicing, fault checking, and routine maintenance tasks.
* Carry out assembly and testing of electrical parts using hand tools and basic workshop equipment (drills, crimping tools, adhesives, etc.).
* Support the quarantine process for substandard products and undertake straightforward repairs when required.
* Follow work instructions, technical drawings, and company processes to ensure quality standards are met.

Collaboration:

* Work closely with the Service Manager and other departments to ensure smooth turnaround of service jobs.
* Provide accurate feedback on recurring issues to assist with product and installation improvements.
* Maintain a positive, professional approach as a representative of Redtronic when dealing with customers.

Personal Specification:

* Practical, hands-on approach with good attention to detail.
* Willingness to travel on a semi-regular basis to customer sites, with occasional overnight stops when required.
* Ability to plan and prioritise workload with guidance from the Service Manager.
* Positive "can do" attitude, able to work independently on straightforward tasks and as part of a wider team.
* Organised, reliable, and professional in all customer-facing situations.

Skills Required:

* Basic technical and mechanical aptitude (use of hand tools, testing equipment, etc.).
* Confident use of app-based service/job logging tools.
* IT skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
* Clear written and verbal communication skills.
* Previous experience in a technical support, service, or workshop role is essential — full training will be provided.

This role may involve other duties as directed by the Service Manager, in line with business needs.

Pay: £26,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
