Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. MRCP (UK) or an equivalent qualification
2. SCE in respiratory medicine
3. Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register for both Respiratory and General Internal Medicine via one of the following: a) Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) b) Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR)

Desirable criteria

4. MD or other higher postgraduate degree

Experience

Essential criteria

5. Satisfactory training in and General Internal Medicine
6. Involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate education

Ability & Knowledge

Essential criteria

7. Wide knowledge of Respiratory and General Internal Medicine. Able to give expert opinion

Clinical Skills & Technical Skills

Essential criteria

8. Independent Bronchoscopy and pleural skills including ultrasound

Desirable criteria

9. EBUS, thoracoscopy and the placement and removal or intra pleural catheters

Motivation

Essential criteria

10. Hard working and positive outlook
11. Committed to service development

Audit

Essential criteria

12. Experience in hospital clinical audit

Desirable criteria

13. Publication of audit results

Research

Essential criteria

14. An understanding of the Research process

Desirable criteria

15. Original publications in Peer Review journals

Management ability

Essential criteria

16. Experience of hospital management at Specialist Registrar level

Desirable criteria

17. Management training course at regional level

Other Requirements

Essential criteria

18. Innovative, committed, hard working

Desirable criteria

19. Proficient in both written and verbal communication skills in English
20. Ability to travel and be expected to live within 15 miles or 30 minutes of the Trust
