Overview
Here at Blueprint Recruitment, we are looking for an experienced Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading engineering consultancy, on a contract basis. The successful candidate will work on a hybrid basis, from the client's Basingstoke office, 2-3 days a week. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of constructure, infrastructure, and property development projects as a valued member of a dynamic team of engineers and professionals.
Competitive day rate of £400 (depending on experience). Hybrid working arrangement (2-3 days on-site).
Responsibilities
* Produce concise electrical system designs focusing on project layouts, schematics, plant schedules, performance calculations, and specifications.
* Ensure all designs follow current regulations, standards, and building codes, and keep reports and documents up-to-date and accurate.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients to ensure the project is progressing efficiently and effectively.
* Assist in the construction phase by reviewing contractor submissions, settling design queries, and attending site visits and inspections.
* Identify and implement cost and energy solutions to improve project efficiency, considering lighting, power usage, energy conservation, and control systems.
* Design and technical review, problem-solving, and overseeing responsibilities such as design management, with opportunities for hands-on design work.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
* Experience working on moderate to large-scale electrical building services projects, with a focus on power, controls, lighting, and distribution.
* Proficient with design and modelling tools, including AutoCAD, BIM, and Revit.
* Strong understanding of current electrical and safety standards, regulations, and commissioning processes.
* Good time management, organization, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to adapt to project changes and constraints.
