Our Team:
Our UK Publishing People Team is based across London and Peterborough, and they support the Publishing Group Leadership Team and their Next Level Leaders and teams.
The Focus of the Role:
As one of our People Business Partner’s, you’ll be acting as a strategic advisor to leaders and managers with a specific focus in our Digital area of the business. You'll drive performance, build capability, and foster an inclusive, high-engagement culture.
This role blends coaching and operational HR support - shaping organisational design, managing change, and aligning people decisions with business goals and values. Using commercial insight, you’ll influence outcomes, mitigate risk, and support the attraction, development, and retention of top talent.
This role will be in a hybrid working model, so 2 days in either our London or Peterborough office, and the rest working from home.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Partnering and Collaboration with Centres of Excellence –
1. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, act as a trusted advisor and coach, able to constructively challenge where appropriate.
2. Understand the business priorities, performance drivers, and market context to ensure people practices are commercially aligned.
3. Provide expert guidance, coaching and support in all areas of employee relations. and people insight to support business outcomes.
4. Collaborate with the wider People function to translate business objectives into actionable people plans.
Talent, Performance and Change Management –
5. Work with leaders to identify, develop and retain talent, supporting succession and development plans.
6. Empower and equip managers to manage confidently and effectively; coach leaders to proactively address people matters, building line management accountability for performance and engagement
7. Role model and coach managers to provide clear, timely and constructive feedback that supports learning and accountability.
8. Encourage a culture of feedback and development through honest and constructive conversations.
9. Partner on organisational design, restructure, TUPEs and workforce planning, supporting managers to lead consultation confidently and compliantly.
10. Support leaders, managers and employees through periods of change, embedding new ways of working and ensuring alignment with organisational values.
11. Partner with leaders to build inclusive, high-trust environments that value openness, fairness and responsibility.
Employee Relations –
12. Guide leaders through complex employee relations matters, ensuring issues are address early and directly with teams.
13. Build manager capability in handling conflict, feedback and difficult conversations confidently and appropriately.
Data and Insight –
14. Drive the adoption of HR Peoplesource system to drive data integrity and manager/employee self service.
15. Support the roll out of job architecture and job design.
What You’ll Bring:
16. Significant experience dealing with complex employee relations matters, restructures including collective consultation and TUPE.
17. Proven track record of experience across all HR disciplines including talent development, organisation design and change management.
18. Strong knowledge of HR principles, HR practice and employment law.
19. Excellent interpersonal, coaching and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.
20. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
21. Ability to adapt to change, manage multiple projects and priorities.
22. Act with integrity, discretion and serve as a role model for the Company’s values.
