Your new role
This is an excellent opportunity to join an organisation with an immediate start and manage a newly formed team of finance professionals until January 2026. As a qualified accountant, you will have excellent technical capability, a high degree ofpetence in financial systems and befortable managing the day-to-day requirements and one-to-ones of a newly formed team of seven accountants. You will have the ability to ensure the organisation's revenue and capital resources are used effectively and efficiently, and related financial systems and controls are operating efficiently and effectively, seeking opportunities to improve these where you can.
Your main accountabilities will be in preparing revenue and capital budgets, including identifying and estimating cost pressures, and providing input to the
Annual budget and medium-term financial plan. Additionally, monitoring and controlling revenue and capital budgets, including providing input to specific legislative requirements and reports. You will be maintaining divisional cash limits and trading targets, alongside accurate accounting records.
A key part of your role will be ensuring the financial systems are operating effectively and maintaining sound systems of internal financial control, demonstrating an understanding of and applying external financial reporting requirements as part of the production of the statement of accounts. You will work with senior directors providing sound financial guidance and explanations around reasons for any variances as well as supporting efficiency and transformation work across the organisation - producing and analysing detailed statistical and management information from a range of sources, andpletingernment returns and claims.
What you'll need to succeed
As a qualified accountant (CIPFA/ACCA/ACA/CIMA), you will also have detailed knowledge of financial planning and monitoring frameworks and processes, as well as experience of preparing and/or monitoringplex revenue budgets, as well as experience of interpreting and correctly applyingplex technical requirements, legislation and/or grant conditions, presentingplex financial information in user-friendly formats and providing tailored financial advice and developing innovative solutions in line with client requirements. Your highly developed staff management and development skills,petence using financial systems and interpersonal skills will also be essential to succeed in this role.
