Reporting to the Senior Engineer Program Manager, the Product Architect is a technical leader & representative of the transmission product family, internally and outside the company. Responsible for technically leading activities on Bay Protection and Control Units family product devices. Responsibility spans the product life cycle, project planning, resource loading, and budget and cross functional execution, leading all areas of the product design, engineering thru successful execution and launch of product releases.
This role embraces accountability to drive technical road maps cross divisional with software, hardware, product validation and certification, in partnership with product management.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Lead and sustain a world-class development team to deliver complex platforms and projects of varying size and duration.
2. Coach and mentor a diverse product development team through lean/agile development transformation.
3. Spearhead adoption of industry standards within the company; evangelize Agile transformation, shared best practices, and estimation techniques across GE Vernova teams.
4. Provide expertise on overall technical risk management and quality for the product and its application.
5. Develop, own, manage, and communicate technical product roadmaps, working with product management and cross-functional teams for strategic planning with a 5+ year outlook.
6. Manage technical dependencies within the product and across business areas, such as industrialization and quality.
7. Collaborate with product owners and architects to set priorities and influence current and future multi-generation plans aligning product, technology, and business vision.
8. Work with third parties/partners in support of development and support activities.
9. Provide expertise to proactively address potential defect areas in complex systems and ensure compatibility between subsystems and dependent systems.
10. Initiate and lead product/service or architectural innovations, identifying critical design areas early in development.
11. Apply Lean methodologies for process improvements guiding development, sustaining, and support activities.
12. Occasional international travel may be required to visit customers, vendors, and teams at GE Vernova sites.
Qualifications Requirements:
* Masters or Engineer degree in Software, Power Electronics, Electrotechnics.
* Extensive experience as an architect of embedded systems with proven leadership across disciplines.
* Expertise in Agile methodologies within embedded development.
Desirables:
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, encouraging innovation, risk-taking, and creative thinking through coaching and mentoring.
* Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills for building relationships, negotiations, and presentations to technical and non-technical audiences.
* Experience with electronics compliance standards such as EMC CE, UL, IEC, IEEE is highly desirable.
* Exposure to industrialization, hardware, firmware, and software architectures of PLCs, protection & control relays, and switches.
