The post holder will assist qualified Therapists with assessment and treatment of patients on the Acute wards, Emergency Department, and other assessment units. The focus is on admission avoidance, early discharge planning, and restoring patients to the highest level of independence.
The post holder will:
1. Complete initial assessments, formulate and implement treatment programmes, and advise on discharge plans under the guidance of the qualified therapist.
2. Provide high-quality care, timely intervention, and assist with early discharge planning.
3. Work scheduled hours over 7 days.
4. Assess patients' medical fitness before treatment and communicate any changes or observations to appropriate professionals.
5. Assist with assessment, treatment, and management, including stair assessments and mobilising patients requiring more than one person.
6. Perform clerical, administrative, and departmental duties supporting clinical work as directed by Therapists.
7. Assess for and issue basic equipment to facilitate activities of daily living and mobility, and monitor ward stock levels.
You will work with a supportive team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Assistants to assess patients and facilitate rapid discharges within the Emergency Department and Acute Assessment Units. We operate as an integrated team and value collaboration within our multidisciplinary team.
