Role Description
The EMEA Consumer & Retail Investment Banking team, based in London, is looking for an experienced Associate / Vice President to join the team. The team covers a broad range of well‑known clients on both strategic and financial matters across Consumer and Retail sectors and is increasingly expanding coverage of disruptive companies in digital commerce and fast‑growing food and beverage brands and technologies. The role involves full cycle coverage and transaction execution, including idea generation, and covers traditional Investment Banking products (M&A, Debt, Equity). Collaborations span 90+ professionals worldwide.
Consumer (e.g., Beverage, Food, Home & Personal Care, Tobacco)
Retail (e.g., Apparel & Luxury, Food Retail, Specialty Retail, Foodservice & Restaurants)
Disruptive companies in digital commerce and fast‑growing food & beverage brands and technologies
Responsibilities
Associate Level Day‑to‑day Role
Formulate and develop client pitch‑books and analysis to support client coverage activities
Lead workstreams on live transactions (M&A, IPO, etc.) including drafting marketing materials, building financial models, and coordinating due diligence
Conduct detailed operational and financial analysis, including comparable company trading analysis and transaction analysis
Build detailed financial models (operating models, merger models, DCF, LBO, etc.)
Research companies and industries and support client initiatives, including generating new M&A ideas
Monitor targeted clients for newsflow and announcements
Build direct cross‑functional relationships with bankers in product and regional business units
Vice President Level Day‑to‑day Role
Support origination and deal execution across a broad scope of assignments and products within the Consumer & Retail industry
Make an immediate contribution and support senior bankers in day‑to‑day client coverage
Play a leadership role in the execution of M&A transactions and equity and debt financings
Help formulate and develop client pitch‑books and analysis to support client coverage activities
Mentor and train junior team members
Lead client coverage for smaller accounts
Qualifications
Associate
Self‑motivated and driven
Proven financial analysis and modelling skills
High attention to detail and diligence
Analytical, problem‑solving and commercial acumen
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Capable of working independently and with multiple teams and individuals
Fluency in English is essential; a second European language is a plus
Vice President
Requisite years of Investment Banking experience, ideally with Consumer & Retail exposure
Professional maturity and ability to interact directly with clients, driving origination and execution
Self‑motivated and driven
Proven financial analysis and modelling skills
High attention to detail and diligence
Analytical, problem‑solving and commercial acumen
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Capable of working independently and with multiple teams and individuals
Fluency in English is essential; a second European language is a plus
