Our client is seeking an experienced project design engineer, preferably with a strong hydraulic background, to join their team.
The company offers solutions including design, manufacturing, installation of hydraulic systems, service and maintenance, technical support, and parts distribution, involving sub-contractors and on-site/workshop technicians.
The Project Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and management of projects from enquiry to completion. This role requires attention to detail, responsiveness, communication, and negotiation skills.
The position is challenging and motivating, ideal for someone looking to develop their career. The design scope may include hydraulic power units, control manifolds & consoles, bespoke hydraulic systems, and pipework.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare technical proposals, specifications, quotations & review calculations
* Ensure feasibility and provide technical guidance to customers
* Select and size components
* Prepare or review hydraulic schematics, bill of material & engineering drawings
* Optimize system performance and cost, resolve issues, and improve manufacturability and serviceability
* Project management & planning, checking delivered goods
* Prepare technical specifications for sub-contractors and send enquiries
* Procurement following project requirements
* Approve subcontractors' designs & ensure compliance
* Fill and verify paperwork during the job
* Brief operational team before manufacture and support technical operations
* Control work after completion and issue final documents
* Prepare work files and plan workshop/onsite work
* Prepare the OMM Operation and Maintenance Manual
* Provide project KPIs for progress review
* Ensure projects meet financial objectives and deadlines

Qualifications and Skills:
* Strong understanding of engineering and design principles
* Creative approach to generating new ideas
* Knowledge of manufacturing processes and construction methods
* Degree or equivalent in mechanical/electrical engineering
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical/control systems
* Proficiency in CAD software (Inventor/Solidworks, Hydrosym)
* Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
* Full driving license
* Project management experience
* Experience in hydraulic commissioning, fault finding, and system design
* Knowledge of ISO and international quality standards (LR, DNV, BV, NORSOK, ATEX)
