About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Workshop Operative to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality rustic shelves and pipe shelving and desks using redwood pine, ensuring each piece meets our exacting standards for craftsmanship and sustainability. Reporting directly to the Workshop Manager, this is a hands-on role with the opportunity to progress into dining table top making as you develop within the business.
This position is ideal for someone with a passion for woodworking and a keen eye for detail who is eager to grow their skills in a dynamic and eco-conscious company.
Key Responsibilities
* Shelf and Pipe Furniture Production:
* Craft and assemble shelves and pipe furniture according to company specifications and customer requirements.
* Ensure all products meet high-quality standards and are finished to perfection.
* Material Handling:
* Work with a variety of materials, including reclaimed wood and sustainably sourced timber.
* Safely handle tools and equipment used in the production process.
* Quality Control:
* Inspect each product for flaws or imperfections to ensure consistency and customer satisfaction.
* Address any production issues promptly and effectively.
* Workshop Maintenance:
* Maintain a clean and organised workspace, ensuring tools and machinery are properly cared for.
* Follow health and safety guidelines to create a safe working environment.
* Collaboration:
* Work closely with the Workshop Manager and other team members to meet production deadlines.
* Communicate effectively to resolve challenges and improve processes.
* Development Opportunities:
* Learn and develop skills in dining table top making, with the potential to progress into more advanced roles within the workshop.
Required Skills and Experience
* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
* Experience using a variety of woodworking tools and machinery.
* Ability to follow detailed instructions and interpret technical drawings.
* Good organisational and time management skills.
* Team player with excellent communication skills.
Desirable Skills
* Experience working with redwood pine or reclaimed timber.
* Experience in woodworking or furniture making
* Familiarity with health and safety protocols in a workshop environment.
