The role
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a highly skilled and experienced pharmacist to fulfill the role of Director of Pharmacy. As part of the Corporate Management Team, you will provide expert advice and support to the Board, its committees and the Health & Social Care Partnerships to facilitate informed decision‑making.
You will serve as the Chief Pharmacist for NHSGGC and the Board’s Accountable Officer Controlled Drugs, overseeing both strategic and operational planning and leadership of pharmacy services across the NHS Trust and its partnerships.
Key responsibilities include delivering agreed standards of pharmaceutical care, maintaining safety and effectiveness, ensuring resource and service efficiency, and driving service innovation and development.
You will develop a patient‑focused culture that encourages initiative, responsibility and open communication, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to respond to the evolving health and care landscape.
About You
Reporting to the Executive Medical Director, you will provide strategic leadership for pharmacy services across NHSGGC and work as a collegiate member of the Corporate Management Team.
Your qualifications include:
* Demonstrable track record in operational and strategic management of pharmaceutical care services in a multidisciplinary setting
* Ability to develop and sustain a strong, patient‑focused culture that encourages initiative and responsibility
* Dynamic and inspirational leadership with a proven capacity to solve complex challenges
* Experience leading strategically within a large health system and collaborating with diverse stakeholder groups
* Strong team‑working and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to service excellence and adaptability
