Job Description:
Based in Darlington, this role offers a fantastic opportunity for a Music Coordinator with Teaching Responsibilities at Clervaux Garden School, working with students with learning disabilities and complex needs.
Details:
* 16 hours / 2 days per week, 40 weeks per year (applications from those wishing to work 1 day per week are welcome)
* Salary: £9,659 - £12,325 (up to £14,004 with QTS); FTE Salary: £27,524 - £35,119 (up to £39,016 with QTS); starting salary depends on qualifications and experience
Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver music sessions tailored to individual needs and learning requirements, using a bespoke RMT music curriculum as a guide.
* Encourage students to prepare and perform music pieces at festivals and school or Trust performances.
* Participate in ongoing assessment of students’ learning needs, making reasonable adjustments to minimize barriers.
* Work creatively with various musical styles and acoustic, unplugged instruments.
* Model positive behaviors and attitudes.
* Support students’ development and confidence through rapport and appropriate challenges.
* Collaborate with teachers and assistants to deliver music education.
* Prepare music for seasonal festivals and supervise rehearsals.
* Coordinate with other disciplines such as Speech and Language, Dance, and Drama for cross-disciplinary learning.
* Lead CPD sessions to enhance staff confidence in singing and music fundamentals.
* Maintain musical instruments and organize the music room.
Candidate Profile: Recent graduates from music training, including music therapy and world music, are encouraged to apply. Ongoing CPD and mentoring in therapeutic and community music will be provided.
