The Dudley, MA facility hosts Operations, Global Lens Engineering, and R&D teams that develop, pilot, and manufacture semi-finished polycarbonate lenses for premium markets, along with coatings, inks, and other innovative products worldwide.

GENERAL FUNCTION
We seek a dynamic Polymer Scientist for an entry-level role to work on innovative processes, machines, and materials. Reporting to the Senior Manager, you will collaborate globally with R&D, Engineering, Operations, and vendors at our Group Lens Innovation facility in Dudley, MA.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
1. Conduct experimental, simulation, and modeling work on optical elements.
2. Propose, modify, and optimize characterization methodologies for textured plastic films and laminates.
3. Conduct optical materials characterization and develop new fixtures and methodologies to measure visual acuity and optical power.
4. Gather data on micro-textured samples on films, laminates, and lenses.
5. Integrate optical instrumentation, simulation software, and imaging analysis into product development.
6. Develop optical metrology techniques for offline and inline characterization of textured materials.
7. Ensure processes meet product requirements through experiments and statistical control.
8. Utilize optical modeling software like Ansys Optics and Zemax.
9. Participate actively in research and product development teams.
10. Support innovation in ongoing programs and studies.
11. Prepare reports on methodologies and process modifications.
12. Manage data effectively using appropriate tools.
Basic Qualifications
1. Masters or PhD in Engineering, Optics, Imaging, Materials, Physics, or related, with 0-5 years of relevant experience.
2. Ability to document results and prepare technical reports and presentations.
3. Effective collaboration skills in a global environment.
4. Innovative mindset and willingness to modify instrumentation and processes.
5. Flexibility in work assignments.
6. Proactive learning attitude.
7. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% annually.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Optical experience preferred.
2. ABO certification a plus.
