Join to apply for the Principal Mining Hydrogeologist (Mining) role at WSP in the UK & Ireland.

This is an exciting opportunity to join WSP’s Mining & Metals business in the UK&I. The position involves technical delivery of mining hydrogeology projects internationally, supported by senior professionals and a multidisciplinary team of hydrogeologists, hydrologists, geochemists and engineers. Work covers projects across the mining life cycle, from exploration and pre-feasibility through to mine closure.


What you will do

This role sits within the UK & Ireland Mine Water team (and globally). It combines technical delivery with team collaboration. Your main responsibilities will include:

* Deliver consulting services, supported by senior consultants, in hydrogeology, groundwater risk assessment, mine water management and environmental impact assessments to support feasibility studies and environmental social impact assessments.
* Provide technical input to mining hydrogeology studies.
* Collaborate with a team of scientists, engineers and other professionals within the Mine Water team while developing your career, technical excellence and commercial awareness.
* Participate in global corporate technical practice groups to elevate technical excellence and client visibility.
* Assist in project coordination and actively contribute to budgets, schedules and plans for projects and proposals.
* Support development and maintenance of client relationships through project-based interaction or by supporting business development.
* Demonstrate a safety-first attitude in line with WSP’s health, safety and wellbeing policy and procedures.


What we will be looking for you to demonstrate

* Demonstrated experience of technical delivery and collaboration.
* Experience in mining hydrogeology across the mining life cycle.
* Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills related to technical delivery.
* An MSc in Hydrogeology (or equivalent) combined with a BSc in a related discipline (e.g., geology, civil engineering, mining, environmental science, etc.).


Desirable

* Flexibility and willingness to travel locally and internationally.
* Previous field work experience (e.g., groundwater monitoring, drill rig supervision, aquifer testing).
* Experience with numerical modelling packages and GIS software.
* Chartered professional status with a relevant body.
