Overview
HGV Technician/ Fitter (Hydraulics / Pneumatics / Welding) – Dumfries. Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday 8am-5pm and Saturday 7am-12pm. Salary: £45,240 per year.
My client is a well-established and growing HGV Engineering business with over 40 years industry experience. They are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Fitter/Technician to join their busy Dumfries depot. This is a days-based role with no engine work required, ideal for a fitter with strong mechanical and fabrication skills who enjoys hands-on workshop work.
Responsibilities
* Maintenance and repair of HGV, Tippers, Trailers, Miunted Cranes and ancillary equipment
* Working on hydraulic and pneumatic systems
* Carrying out welding and fabrication repairs (MIG / arc)
* Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults (non-engine related)
* Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard
* Maintaining a clean and organised workshop environment
* Complying with health & safety procedures at all times
* Ensure all Health and safety obligations are met, and company policies are adhered to
* Report any safety concerns, hazard observations, accidents and incidents by the end of that shift to allow full investigation and prevent re-occurrence
* Ensure activities and associated actions and measures taken do not endanger but assist with the upkeep and maintaining the company's ISO (9001, 14001 and 45001) standards and certification
* To have a good understanding of vehicle mechanical interfaces and repairs of vehicle components.
* To be able to install / repair hydraulic systems
* To overhaul of raft components.
* To be able to understand schematic drawings.
What we are looking for
* Previous experience as an HGV Fitter, Trailer Fitter, or Plant Fitter
* Strong knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
* Welding and fabrication experience
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Good attention to detail and a proactive approach to work
* Relevant mechanical or fabrication qualifications (desirable but not essential)
