Theatre Practitioner, Scrub (General, Laparoscopic and mainly Bariatric) – Bupa Cromwell Hospital, SW5 0TU
Salary: £37,080 to £46,890 per annum, plus benefits.
Shift pattern – Long Days 07:30 to 21:00 / Early 07:45 to 15:45 / Late 13:00 to 21:00.
Job Summary
As a Scrub Nurse (General, Laparoscopic and mainly Bariatric) you will deliver safe, high‑quality peri‑operative care as part of a multidisciplinary team within a busy theatre environment. You will support the surgical team, maintain a clean and efficient operating area and provide assistance throughout both anaesthetic and surgical procedures.
Responsibilities
* Assist in positioning and preparing a patient as directed by the surgical team, ensuring specimens are correctly labelled and dispatched.
* Control cross‑infection by observing departmental policy regarding dress, maintaining a clean working environment and following decontamination and sterilisation procedures and asepsis.
* Participate in induction and orientation programmes for new staff.
* Prepare patients for clinical/operative procedures, both in anaesthetics and surgery.
* Provide assistance during clinical/operative procedures.
* Take charge of the clinical area in the absence of an advanced practitioner to ensure patient, visitor and staff safety.
* Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate peri‑operative patient care.
* Participate in the delegation and supervision of junior grades, unqualified and less experienced staff.
Qualifications
* 1st level registration Adult and/or Children or Diploma or Degree in Health Care Studies / ODP Level 3 NVQ / ODA 752.
* Previous peri‑operative experience in General, Laparoscopic and mainly Bariatric is essential.
* NMC or HCPC registered.
* Ability to deliver high standards of care.
* Knowledge of current professional nursing issues.
