The Role
As Service Manager, you will ensure the effective, compliant, and timely delivery of planned and reactive maintenance works, along with small‑scale additional works. You will maintain strict adherence to Health & Safety standards and MOD‑specific requirements, keeping buildings safe, operational, and compliant. You will lead and coordinate supply chain teams, review risk assessments and method statements, conduct job inspections and record activity in CAFM systems. Key duties include compliance with statutory requirements (Legionella, Asbestos, Confined Spaces), possible appointments such as Authorised Person or Responsible Person, act as the primary contact for MOD clients and end users, manage budgets, control risk, and contribute to future maintenance planning while promoting VIVO’s Zero Harm and sustainability initiatives.
What You’ll Bring
You should hold an HNC in Building, Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering – or equivalent experience – and a management‑level Health & Safety qualification such as SMSTS. Proven experience in planned and reactive maintenance and managing small construction or engineering projects is required. You should be willing to take on key site responsibilities such as Space or Legionella Authorised Person roles and participate in an out‑of‑hours on‑call rota. Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel and Word, and a commitment to professional development are essential. Leadership, communication, negotiation, and decision‑making skills backed by technical know‑how are essential.
