The Opportunity
An established and busy hydraulics business is looking for a skilled Workshop Machinist to join their team.
This is a hands-on role working on hydraulic rams and components, combining machining, fault diagnosis, and repair work. You'll be a key part of the workshop, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and delivered safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities of the Workshop Machinist
Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on hydraulic rams and components
Strip, inspect, refurbish, and rebuild hydraulic cylinders
Test completed units to ensure safe and reliable operation
Operate manual lathes (including Colchester machines)
Liaise with customers on job requirements and provide quotes
Manage stock levels and coordinate outsourced work where required Person Specification for the Workshop Machinist
Experience working with hydraulic rams/cylinders (preferred)
Ability to diagnose faults and carry out full strip and rebuilds
Experience operating manual lathes
Good understanding of workshop practices and health & safety
Organised, able to manage workload and maintain stock levels
Reliable, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail
