Key Account Sales Manager
The Opportunity
Are you a pro‑active Internal Sales or Key Account Manager with a technical background and desire to meet with your customers face to face from time to time? This role is the perfect combination: 60 % key account management, 40 % pro‑active new business development. You will be required to travel to see UK customers about once a month, and potentially visit those in Europe once every three months. It’s a really lovely job! It would ideally suit somebody who’s worked in a mechanical engineering environment, possibly automotive, aerospace or industrial engineering.
The Role
* To develop, manage and grow existing key customer accounts whilst seeking out new business opportunities.
* To lead a structured sales process, including qualifying leads, quoting, negotiating and converting; ensuring consistent and profitable business growth.
* Be the primary point of contact for existing customers, coordinating their requirements internally whilst maintaining strong customer service with accurate data and timely responses.
* Provide and support the preparation of accurate sales forecasts/trends for monthly, quarterly and annual analysis by business stakeholders.
* Ensure technical competence with the ability to understand customers technical requirements in a mechanical engineering environment, and translate them into commercial proposals.
Preferred Skills
* Minimum 4 years Sales or Key Account Management experience within a manufacturing / engineering / technical environment.
* This position requires UK travel approximately once a month, and European travel about every 3 months, therefore a full driving license is required as a company car is provided.
* Strong understanding of end‑to‑end sales processes and their link to wider business operations.
* Strong commercial acumen, resilient with a proactive mindset.
* Proven customer relationship management experience.
* Demonstrable presentation, negotiation and influencing skills.
* The ideal candidate will have a successful and demonstrable track record of managing, developing and growing business opportunities.
Working Hours
Hours 8.30 – 5.30 M‑F with a 3 pm finish on a Friday.
