Support Worker - Sheffield - Working with children in a residential setting Support Worker Working with Children/Young People Location - Sheffield Permanent Role Salary up to £24,700 Role Purpose To act as a corporate parent, safeguard and promote the rights and well-being of children and young people in a residential setting. Getting to know the children and build positive relationships. Help children to feel secure, providing ongoing care and support to build their confidence and teach coping/life skills. Key Skills & Experience • Diploma Level 3 in Residential Child Care (England) qualified or working towards (to be completed within 2 years of start date) • Good listening skills • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams • Excellent organisational and time management skills • Takes accountability for own training and continual professional development and supports others where needed • Recognises cultural diversity • Understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to child protection and safeguarding • Knowledge of equality and diversity • Accurate record keeper • Ability to work as an individual and as a team player • Confidentiality • Track record of showing initiative and sharing ideas • Experienced in being assertive and consistent. • Able to hold self/others accountable and problem solve • A compassionate and empathetic approach • Non-judgmental and solution-focused attitude • Ability to maintain boundaries and manage difficult situations • Flexible and adaptable approach to work A current DBS on the update service is also essential and a full UK driving license is desirable.
