The Direct Payments Recipient (the employer, holding all employer responsibilities). Pembrokeshire County Council supports them to fulfil their employer obligations.
Job Description
A Direct Payments client’s parents in Pembrokeshire are looking to employ a Personal Assistant to support their 19‑year‑old son who has additional learning needs. The role involves helping him access the community, learn about budgeting and participate in activities of interest. The successful applicant should be friendly, supportive, and able to encourage independence.
Responsibilities
* Support the client in gaining independence
* Assist with budgeting
* Provide support while shopping and attending activities of interest
* Enable the client to interact socially in the community
* Provide companionship, engage in conversation and provide social interaction at the client’s home
* Ensure the client’s safety at all times during working hours
* Carry out any other reasonable tasks requested by the client
* Be mindful of safeguarding issues and report concerns to the relevant authority
* Contact GP, Social Worker or Local Authority if medical assistance is required

* Has good local knowledge
* Good time‑keeping and flexible to working patterns and duties
* Good communicator / sociable
* Able to develop a supportive and consistent relationship with the client and family
Other Requirements
* A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required
* Business use on vehicle insurance is required to use the vehicle within work hours
