An exciting opportunity has arisen at UHCW to recruit a Consultant Radiographer within Breast Imaging. UHCW is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts, caring for over 1 million people across Warwickshire and beyond, with two main hospital sites: University Hospital in Coventry and the Hospital of St Cross in Rugby.
The post requires a Masters level qualification in Advanced Mammography Practice, significant post-registration experience, HPC registration, and a Certificate of Competence or Postgraduate Award in Mammography, along with a recognized Postgraduate film-reading and breast interventional qualification. The role is primarily based at the University Hospital site, with rotations through George Eliot Hospital to support the symptomatic service.
The successful candidate will be competent in all aspects of breast imaging and image-guided intervention, supporting and extending existing services including screening, symptomatic work, and regional MDTs. The team includes 4.3 WTE consultant radiologists, 4 consultant radiographers, and 4 advanced practitioners.
UHCW offers a range of services, including district general hospital care, a breast screening service, a tertiary centre, and a Major Trauma Centre. The hospital also hosts the Arden Cancer Centre and the University of Warwick Medical School. The Trust provides over 800,000 episodes of care annually and is recognized as a Pathway to Excellence organization.
The role involves working flexibly, including evenings and weekends, with at least 50% clinical practice. Responsibilities include prioritizing complex cases, undertaking X-ray and ultrasound interventions, reporting mammograms, interpreting breast tomosynthesis, and participating in audits. The post also involves collaborating with the multidisciplinary team, supporting patient care pathways, and leading projects to maintain competency across practice pillars.
