About the Role
We are seeking a Temporary Procurement Officer to provide short-term cover and maintain continuity of essential procurement activity across the College. This operational role is critical to ensuring business-critical tenders and contract actions continue to progress in line with statutory requirements and internal governance, without placing undue pressure on existing team capacity.
This is a hands-on position focused on delivery rather than management. The successful candidate will support compliance, continuity, and risk management while maintaining service standards during a period of absence. The role does not involve procurement strategy, policy development, or team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate at Procurement Officer level with no line management or strategic responsibilities.
* Independently manage end-to-end tendering and contract processes for goods, services, and works.
* Ensure procurement activities comply with Public Contracts Regulations 2015 (PCR 2015) and demonstrate operational awareness of the Procurement Act 2023.
* Work efficiently within an established procurement framework, delivering outcomes at pace with minimal supervision.
* Support the College in maintaining audit-ready processes and adhering to governance and approval routes.
Person Specification
* Proven experience in a procurement role, ideally within the Further Education (FE) or Higher Education (HE) sector.
* Strong working knowledge of PCR 2015 and awareness of the Procurement Act 2023.
* Ability to manage multiple procurement activities independently and prioritise effectively.
* Highly organised with strong attention to detail and compliance.
* CIPS Level 4 qualification or above (or equivalent practical experience) is desirable.
