The Role
The post holder will lead, develop, co-ordinate and evaluate the technical pharmacy service and support worker roles within the primary care Prescribing Management Team, primarily in the delivery of the pharmacotherapy service across the NHS Lanarkshire North and South Health and Social Care Partnerships (HSCPs) in accordance with the objectives agreed with the Prescribing Management Team.
The post holder will work closely with the Advanced Clinical Services and be responsible for the roll out, development and facilitation of the technical and support elements of the pharmacotherapy service as outlined in the General Medical Services Contract 2018.
The post holder will have responsibility as a professional lead to all technical staff and support workers within the Prescribing Management Team. The post holder will line manage identified pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support workers within a locality.
The job purpose is to ensure the strategic planning, management, co-ordination, development and delivery of the pharmacotherapy service, ensuring compliance with professional standards and medicines legislation. This will include assisting in the development and delivery of formal training schemes, advising on methods of meeting training needs and ensuring training support is available for all tutors and trainers. The role will also require producing protocols for technical staff and support workers to ensure safe procedures of working.
The post holder will work within their legislative and professional framework with a high degree of autonomy and minimal supervision, acting as a role model and providing a consistently high-quality pharmaceutical service to a specified patient population.

What we’ll need you to bring
* Registered member of General Pharmaceutical Council
* Evidence of continuing professional development and revalidation
* NC in Pharmaceutical Sciences
* S/NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services
* HNC Pharmacy Services Development and Management or equivalent
* Pharmacy Dispensing Checking Technician certificate or Pharmacy Aseptic Checking Technician certificate
* Proven specialist knowledge and competency in relevant pharmacy technical service or area
* Experience of teaching/mentoring staff in pharmacy
* Experience of developing and delivering education and training programmes
* Experience of research, project management or audit including supervision of others
* Experience of managing and motivating staff, appraising and giving feedback
* Experience and knowledge of medicines management
* Experience of service development
* Ability to support, challenge and enthuse others
* Computer literate with proficient IT skills
* Recognised role model practitioner
* Excellent communication, presentation and organisational skills
* Able to work autonomously and as part of a team
* Full UK driving licence and access to car
* Flexibility to work out with core pharmacy hours
* Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based in community sites throughout NHS Lanarkshire. The working pattern for this role Mon - Fri; 9:00-5:00.
