Overview
An exciting opportunity for a Geolocation and Cell Site Technical Manager to work jointly with Northumbria Police's Crime Department and Forensic Services. The role ensures the successful implementation of forensic quality standards and ISO 17025 accreditation in all cell site and geolocation, and Radio Frequency Propagation Survey (RFPS) work delivered by Northumbria Police. The successful applicant will join the Covert Intelligence team, supported by Forensic Services to ensure statutory Forensic Science Regulator (FSR) Code compliance in this vital forensic science activity across the force. The role requires a candidate who can work closely with RFPS technicians and analysts and meet the criteria for this new and exciting position. A good working knowledge of RFPS and its application within criminal investigations is essential; experience in forensic quality management is advantageous, with full support provided by the Forensic Services Quality Team. The role requires the ability to travel independently.
Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain geolocation and cell site facilities and procedures for ISO accreditation and FSR compliance.
* Ensure that all methods under ISO 17025 are validated and verified as fit for purpose.
* Ensure work consistently meets standards for quality and timeliness and conduct regular quality checks to provide assurance of professional integrity and credibility.
* Support the Quality Manager to ensure audits are carried out when required.
* Collaborate with RFPS technicians and analysts and stakeholders in line with force values and professional standards of behaviour.
* Prepare detailed reports that describe technical matters to non-technical audiences.
Qualifications
* Accredited and practising RFPS cell site expert with knowledge of cell site analysis and geolocation and its value to investigations.
* Understanding and experience of the Forensic Science Regulator Code of Practice and ISO quality standards.
* Broad understanding of criminal investigation, digital forensics, communications data and analysis is recommended.
* Ability to plan effectively; allocate tasks and work to identify and mitigate delivery risks and meet customer requirements.
* Demonstrable integrity and accountability, with willingness to travel throughout the country and engage in regular CPD to maintain accreditation.
* Ability to work effectively within a small team and with stakeholders in line with force values and professional standards.
