Role overview:
* Ensure machines operate at full capacity, troubleshoot and resolve breakdowns promptly. This role involves shift work.
Responsibilities:
* Operate HDPE blow molding and auxiliary equipment, including packing tables, leak detectors, metal detectors, conveyor systems, and granulators.
* Maintain smooth production flow by identifying and correcting issues to meet volume and quality targets.
* Perform calculations to ensure product weights and measures meet customer specifications.
* Adjust machines to correct errors during bottle production.
* Report problems accurately and complete necessary documentation.
* Optimize machine efficiency to minimize waste and maximize material use.
* Conduct visual and physical quality assessments to ensure product meets specifications.
* Perform routine preventative maintenance to maintain machine performance and product quality.
* Handle standard machine changes, including material feeds, color, gas, neck, and profile adjustments.
* Apply problem-solving techniques and make process adjustments as needed.
* Work effectively as part of a team, mentoring packers.
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping as per Food Packaging Industry standards.
* Follow safety protocols at all times.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on production efficiency, quality, and health and safety.
Education & Experience:
* Background in engineering, mechanical fitting, or similar.
* Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
* At least 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (Grade C/5 or above).
Knowledge & Skills:
* Experience in plastics manufacturing or similar fast-paced production environment.
* Mechanical maintenance skills such as belt changes, pneumatic control adjustments, changeovers, tool changes, and machine setup.
