This apprenticeship provides practical experience, structured training, and dedicated support to help you achieve a Modern Apprenticeship Qualification: Level 3 in Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle).\n\nOver the course of this 3-year apprenticeship (plus 1 year post-apprenticeship employment), youâll work under the guidance of fully qualified and experienced Vehicle Mechanics, gaining essential hands-on skills and knowledge in vehicle servicing and repair. Youâll also attend an approved training centre or college at scheduled intervals to complete the theoretical aspects of your training, as coordinated by Remit. Key learning and job responsibilities include:\n\nVehicle Maintenance, Service, and Repair:\nLearn and undertake all associated skills and theory to become confident and competent in all aspects of vehicle maintenance, servicing, and repair.\nDevelop the skills to remove, replace, install, and test a wide range of vehicle parts, both interior and exterior.\nTrain in the use of tools appropriate to the job task and ensure the correct use of equipment for each repair.\n\nTeam Collaboration:\nWork closely with a team of experienced mechanics, learning from their knowledge and expertise.\nContribute to the success of the team by assisting in daily tasks and projects.\nLearn how to collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure the smooth operation of our Rentals Division.\n\nCustomer Service & Communication:\nDevelop communication skills to interact with customers, team members, and suppliers regarding service needs.\nLearn how to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats, ensuring accurate updates on maintenance work and issues.\nAssist in handling service requests and helping customers with vehicle-related queries.\n\nTechnical Skills Development:\nGain practical experience in diagnosing and repairing faults in light vehicles, including electrical, mechanical systems.\nLearn how to perform diagnostics on vehicle engines, braking systems, suspension systems, and other key components.\nDevelop expertise in the use of diagnostic tools, hand tools, and lifting equipment to carry out repairs & servicing tasks.\nLearn how to read and interpret vehicle manuals, repair guides, and technical bulletins to aid in servicing and repairs.\nUnderstand and become proficient in using vehicle management systems to carry out checks and maintenance tasks.\n\nCollege Attendance & Study:\nAttend college/ an approved training centre as per the apprenticeship schedule and complete the necessary theoretical components of the apprenticeship.\nCommit to your studies and ensure all assignments, coursework, and practical tasks are completed to the required standard.\nEngage with online learning resources assigned by your college and Remit, integrating your classroom learning into your practical work in the workshop.\nEnsure that all necessary assessments, tests, and exams are completed on time to meet the qualification requirements.\n\nHealth and Safety Compliance:\nComply with all health and safety requirements and safety legislation relevant to your role.\nUnderstand and apply the safety protocols in the workshop, ensuring safe and efficient work practices.\n\nRecord-Keeping and Documentation:\nLearn how to keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work.\nAssist in maintaining up-to-date documentation, including parts, maintenance logs, and service history.\nSupport in managing both electronic and manual records in line with company procedures.\n\nTraining & Development:\nParticipate in any additional training events or courses that may be beneficial for your ongoing development.\nDevelop both practical skills in the workshop and theoretical knowledge from your college studies to become a fully qualified Vehicle Mechanic.
