ELECTRONICS ENGINEER - CONTRACT 6 MONTHS - TELFORD Shropshire OR GATESHEAD Newcastle Upon Tyne
Hybrid working 2 or 3 days on site in either location & 2 or 3 days from home. 40 hours over 5 days.
As an Electronic Engineer, you will be getting involved in the design, development & integration of equipment at the system and sub-system levels. This is a varied role working on the design and development of Challenger 3 which will expose you to many different aspects of the platform and it's systems. There will be a mixture of new development, maintaining legacy systems and specifying requirements for externally developed equipment. Contributing to the design and assurance of the platform electronic architecture and interfacing elements.
AT THE COAL FACE TASKS / RESPONSBILITIES
Design and implement designs and concepts for electronic products and systems which simultaneously fulfil contractual requirements and contribute to cost-effective design.
Support the overall system design process to ensure optimal allocation of functionality between different parts of the system.
Preparation of detailed requirements, ensuring traceability and working to the systems engineering process.
Validation and verification of systems, which may include producing test tools, the generation of test schedules, test and integration plans and technical reports.
Developing products through to realisation and ensuring compliance against stringent defence standards standards such as Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)
Provide support to task planning and estimating.
Liaising with subsystem suppliers.
Maintain an up to date understanding of technical / engineering developments and apply this knowledge appropriately to the projects in hand.
Schedule own work to meet target timescales and deliverable milestones.
Perform self-verification of own tasks to ensure completeness and quality of information.
Undertake peer reviews to ensure completeness and quality of output.
Ensure engineering designs address the following Safety, Security, Reusability, Reliability, Maintainability.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
Proven ability in Electronics design and development.
Proven ability in Electronics design and simulation software.
Proven ability in diagnosing, testing and fault finding electrical and electronic systems.
Knowledge of the full product development lifecycle and the systems engineering process.
Desirables:
A history working in a regulated environment such as Defence.
Working knowledge of the basic requirements specified in Def Stan 61-005 Part 6 (Nominal 12V and 24V DC Electrical Systems in Military Platforms) Def Stan 59-411 (Electromagnetic Compatibility), Def Stan 61-005 Part 6 Nominal 12 V and 24 V DC Electrical Systems in Military Platforms and Def Stan 23-009 Generic Vehicle Architecture (GVA).
