Job Title: Senior Support Worker
Job Overview
We are looking for a compassionate, proactive, and experienced Senior Support Worker to join our team in delivering high-quality, person-centred care within a residential care home setting. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership capabilities, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for improving the lives of others.
In this key role, you will lead by example—supporting, guiding, and supervising a team of Support Workers while promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing for all residents. You will contribute to the overall smooth running of the service by ensuring care delivery meets regulatory standards and aligns with residents' individual care plans.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and supervise a team of Support Workers, ensuring high standards of care are consistently delivered.
* Support rota planning and maintain adequate staffing levels across all shifts.
* Monitor and maintain accurate records, ensuring that any changes in residents' health, behaviour, or care needs are promptly documented and communicated.
* Provide hands-on care and support, including assistance with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
* Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of individualised care plans, ensuring residents' physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
* Foster positive relationships with residents, their families, and external professionals, promoting open communication and collaborative care planning.
* Promote a positive living environment, offering emotional support and companionship to residents.
* Participate in staff training and development, ensuring your own knowledge and skills remain up to date.
* Assist with transportation needs, including accompanying residents to appointments or social activities when required.
Requirements
* Previous experience in a Senior Support Worker or Team Leader role is preferred.
* Demonstrated ability to supervise, motivate, and support a team.
* NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is essential.
* Willingness to work flexibly on a 4-week rota, covering shifts between 7:00am – 10:00pm. (Night shifts covered by a separate Waking Night team.)
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with residents, families, and colleagues.
* Confident in developing and reviewing person-centred care plans.
* Competent in using basic IT systems for care planning and record keeping; knowledge of Care Vision is an advantage.
* A valid driving licence is desirable to support resident appointments and outings.
* A caring, respectful, and patient approach, with a commitment to delivering high standards of care and promoting resident wellbeing.
