A vacancy has arisen for an Electrical Engineer to assist in the operation and maintenance of the site's electrical infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable delivery of power.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills / knowledge however where gaps exist training will be provided by other Site Electrical Engineer, and / or by external training bodies: -
* Sound understanding of electrical distribution systems
* Knowledge of electrical plant & equipment typical of a building services / facilities department e.g. UPS, lighting systems, fire detection systems, back-up power generation systems, HVAC plant & controls
* Experience of working as a High Voltage Authorised Person (if not experienced in this aspect, the candidate must be willing to undertake training to become an HV Authorised Person for the site)
* Experience of maintenance / repair activities on electrical plant and equipment
* Ability to understand electrical drawings and fault find on electrical plant and equipment
* Possess a good understanding of relevant legislation and be aware of statutory requirements in connection with electrical installation / maintenance activities
* An understanding of programmable logic control (PLC), and through use of external vendor contracts, support and maintain reliability, accuracy and availability of automation equipment and systems. This includes contributing to keep automation programmes backup updated and ensuring disaster recovery capability for all systems that are based mainly on logic controllers
* Project management experience (desirable but not essential)
* Ensure compliance to site specific, national and international standards and local legislation, IET wiring Regulations, HSE Guidance etc.
* Experience of liaising with and organising maintenance / installation contractors
* Experience of Permit to Work systems
* Good communication skills with the ability to organise tasks, develop work packages and successfully oversee to completion
You will receive day-to-day guidance from the Facilities Engineering Manager and assistance from the other site Electrical Engineer. Necessary training on existing systems will be provided, so a willingness to learn and train is required. You will be expected to deal with problem situations as they occur in addition to carrying out pro-active maintenance and ensuring that all relevant documentation is completed and updated. You will be expected to communicate with engineers, managers and external contractors / suppliers to resolve problems and to provide guidance to Diodes personnel.
Qualifications/Experience
Ideally you will have all of the following, but training will be funded and supported in any gap areas as required:
* Degree / HND / HNC or an equivalent qualification in an electrical discipline combined with experience in electrical engineering / maintenance.
* IEE Wiring Regulations 18th Edition BS 7671
* C&G 6037 HV Systems Operations
