Our client, based in the Bordon area, is looking to recruit a Roaming Inspector / Goods In Inspector. They are experts in electronic and mechanical design, with a reputation for quality and field-proven reliability.
The main function of the Roaming Inspector role is to prevent defective products (raw materials or finished goods) from entering stock. This is achieved through incoming inspections and testing on selected incoming products. The type and extent of inspection/testing vary depending on the product, supplier, and factors such as supplier audits, performance history, and product criticality.
Job Specification:
The Roaming Inspector is responsible for inspecting and testing selected incoming raw materials and finished goods from other manufacturing sites or contractors.
100% inspection/testing is costly and used only when there is a high risk of receiving defective products. For lower-risk products or suppliers, statistical sampling techniques may be used, where a random sample from the incoming batch is checked. When the risk of defects is very low, products may be passed directly into stock without inspection/testing.
The inspector uses a computer database to look up inspection/test instructions for each incoming product/material (using the NCL Part Number).
Various inspection and testing methods are used, involving a wide range of equipment. Work instructions are available to support some methods, along with related documentation.
Results must be recorded in the database. Additional records, such as inspection checklists for PCBs, may also be required.
Skills and Attributes:
* Methodical approach to time management and task execution, with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
* Ability to react and make decisions quickly while remaining calm and composed.
* Good interpersonal, organizational, communication, and influencing skills.
* Proactive communication skills to drive projects and tasks to completion.
* Confidence in dealing with people at all levels, internally and externally.

* 38 hours per week, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm with a half-hour lunch from Monday to Thursday, and 8:30 am to 12:30 pm on Fridays.
* Benefits include a Group Stakeholder Pension Scheme (company contribution 5%, employee minimum 4%), 23 days holiday plus bank holidays, discretionary bonus scheme, group life assurance, income protection insurance, staff appreciation events, Christmas hampers, fully paid Christmas celebration, free flu jab, good attendance scheme, and staff referral scheme.
