SDUK's brands include the nation's favourite cheese brand Cathedral City, along with other well-known butter & spreads (Clover, Country Life, Vitalite, Utterly Butterly), functional ingredients, and dairy-free products. Bute Isle Foods, pioneering plant-based foods since 1994, is where SDUK produces and packages our ranges of dairy-free products, including Sheese, Cathedral City Plant Based, Vitalite, and other free-from products on behalf of leading supermarkets.
This position focuses on the ongoing implementation, monitoring, development, and maintenance of SDUK group standards, with full responsibility for delivering the H&S strategy at the site. As a visible H&S manager in production areas, you'll work closely with stakeholders at all levels to ensure compliance and identify training opportunities, fostering a H&S culture.
YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS THAT MATTER
1. Implement the group occupational HSE strategy at the site level.
2. Lead investigations into serious accidents or incidents, representing the site with enforcement authorities when appropriate.
3. Ensure compliance and reporting on all legal and company standards.
4. Undertake HSE and food safety planning, including setting goals, establishing policies, and implementing performance management systems.
5. Develop site programs to improve HSE KPIs.
6. Manage site audits and enforcement authority visits, ensuring compliance and timely closure of corrective actions.
7. Manage, mentor, and coach H&S apprentices.
8. Ensure staff receive appropriate HSE and security training.
9. Oversee contractor management activities, including inductions, checks, and risk assessments.
YOU'RE BEST SUITED FOR THE ROLE IF YOU ARE
* Experienced at a managerial level in a H&S role within a manufacturing business, with demonstrable experience leading cultural change programs.
* Nebosh H&S Diploma qualified with IOSH membership, and committed to ongoing professional development.
* Experienced with IPC/EP and familiar with UK legislation and reporting requirements.
* A team player with strong communication skills, capable of presenting reports and influencing stakeholders.
* Able to deliver performance improvements through systematic approaches, with experience in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies as an advantage.
* Experienced in managing external relationships with enforcement agencies (HSE, Fire & Rescue, EA, etc.).
