The Role
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to join a successful team working with leading MDO, insurer and private organisational clients in the healthcare sector. The team is dedicated to providing the highest quality service to clients and collaborates with other practice groups in the national healthcare team. We operate a hybrid model of 2 days per week in the office and a sociable team that often organizes events to come together. The Team
The national healthcare regulatory team provides defence for healthcare professionals and organisations in regulatory proceedings before statutory regulators (GMC, GDC, GOC, GPhC, NMC, HCPC) and disciplinary proceedings before NHS Trusts, NHS England and other private healthcare businesses. The team regularly handles Coroner's Inquests, CQC proceedings, data disputes and public inquiries, and there is also a specialist sub-team for criminal proceedings. The regulatory team is led by Adam Weston in our London office.
Our Manchester regulatory team requires a Senior Associate to manage a varied caseload of regulatory, disciplinary and inquest matters for healthcare clients including insurance companies, medical/dental defence organisations, private individuals and professional associations.
The successful candidate must manage a complex caseload and have experience of running healthcare regulatory and disciplinary matters. Additional experience of running inquests, CQC investigations or criminal matters for healthcare professionals/organisations is helpful but not essential.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Previous experience working within a fee‑earning environment.
* Ability to apply law and guidance to business requirements for sophisticated clinical client base.
* Strong drafting skills and academic background.
* Minimum of 7 years PQE with experience in healthcare regulation (PQE levels are a guide).
* Practicing solicitor with a practising certificate and valid training contract (or equivalent) and relevant education (LPC; Graduate Diploma in Law).
* Compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s CPD scheme.
* Excellent legal ability, initiative, strong technical skills and confidence in managing and prioritising a full and varied workload.
* Strong communicator with attention to detail.
* Proactive, teamwork ethic, willingness to assume responsibility.
