DBS Clearance

Appointable candidates will be required to apply for a Standard or Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Information will be dealt with confidentially and in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice. A policy on the Employment of Ex‑Offenders is available upon request.


Role Overview

Funded by the Nature Town & Cities project, this role is predominantly about creating opportunities for greater collaboration between like‑minded partner organisations. The ultimate goal is to increase the number and participation in green initiatives across Manchester that support sustainable travel, health and biodiversity, supporting Manchester City Council and the Parks Service in achieving their objectives in this area.


Key Responsibilities

* Build strong partnerships with stakeholders.
* Facilitate inclusive community‑led initiatives.
* Address barriers to participation for marginalised groups.
* Coordinate urban greening projects.
* Develop engagement strategies.
* Oversee volunteer training in biodiversity and green skills.
* Gather and analyse data to evaluate success, producing reports and case studies.
* Manage communications and identify funding opportunities to sustain environmental projects.


Outcomes

* Expand community‑led biodiversity initiatives.
* Deliver training to build green skills.
* Grow volunteer networks.
* Support groups to secure funding and develop long‑term sustainability strategies.
* Share impact through reports, case studies and digital communications to inform policy and best practices.
