About the Role
Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Care Group Operational Manager within the MSK sector. The role supports the Trust’s commitment to delivering high‑quality, safe and effective care and is part of the Directorate’s Leadership team. The operational manager will work with clinical and non‑clinical teams, deputise for the Deputy Divisional Director when required, and oversee day‑to‑day performance and strategic direction for the care group.
Responsibilities
* Ensure the efficiency and performance of the Division through management of contractual and performance targets, including key operational performance objectives.
* Manage the Care Group effectively through active day‑to‑day involvement of clinical staff.
* Prioritise the patient experience, fostering a culture where all patients are treated with dignity and respect and ensuring services are modern and responsive to individual needs.
* Develop and implement Care Group policies, procedures and standards to provide the best possible care within available resources.
* Monitor quality standards, including quality assurance, audit procedures and complaints procedures.
* Work with the clinical lead to implement Trust policies across the Care Group and ensure staff receive appropriate training in health and safety, risk management and assurance framework compliance.
* Deliver objectives across the Care Group, ranging from strategy development to establishing a robust activity and income model.
* Maintain effective communication channels within and across the Care Group and build working relationships with relevant colleagues in other organisations.
* Manage specific projects agreed with the Divisional Director of Performance, ensuring transparent decision‑making related to funding provision and financial probity.
* Supervise the preparation of accurate booking and recording of all activity across the Care Group.
Requirements
* Must be able to participate in the Trust Senior Manager on Call (SMOC) rota as required.
* Experience in operational leadership within a healthcare setting, preferably in a musculoskeletal or related clinical environment.
