We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Quality and Compliance Officer to join our organisation on a fixed-term basis to strengthen governance, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance across our services.

This role plays a key part in ensuring our services remain safe, high-quality and compliant with regulatory standards. You will support managers across SLS services to strengthen governance, improve outcomes for residents, and ensure we continue delivering safe and effective supported living.

Quality & Compliance Officer Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Quality Assurance & Audit:

* Develop and implement a robust Quality Assurance Framework across all SLS services.
* Conduct scheduled and unannounced on-site audits, house inspections, file reviews, spot checks, and mock inspections.
* Review care and support documentation, housing management records, risk assessments, and property compliance files.
* Produce detailed audit reports with clear action plans and timescales.
* Monitor and verify completion of improvement actions through follow-up visits.


Regulatory & Legislative Compliance:

Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks, including but not limited to:

* Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.
* Care Act 2014 and associated statutory guidance.
* Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Practice.
* Housing Act 1988 and Housing and Planning Act 2016.
* Equality Act 2010.
* Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.
* Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
* Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006.
* Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR.
* RIDDOR reporting requirements.


Lead preparation for CQC inspections (where applicable) and Local Authority contract monitoring visits.

Ensure services meet Local Council supported housing standards, quality frameworks, and commissioning expectations.

Maintain organisational compliance registers and statutory reporting records.


External Accreditations & Standards:

* Maintain compliance with recognised accreditations including ISO 9001, CHAS and SafeContractor.
* Lead organisational preparation for accreditation audits and renewal assessments.
* Ensure compliance with Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) standards, Decent Homes Standard (where applicable), and licensing scheme conditions.
* Maintain document control systems in line with ISO 9001 quality management principles.


Risk Management & Governance:

* Maintain organisational risk registers and monitor compliance risks across services.
* Review incident reports, safeguarding referrals, complaints and whistleblowing concerns to identify trends and ensure appropriate escalation.
* Provide governance reports to senior leadership highlighting risk, compliance gaps and mitigation strategies.
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.


Training & Operational Support:

* Identify compliance-related training needs and support delivery of training in safeguarding, record keeping, health and safety, MCA and governance.
* Provide on-site guidance and practical support to managers to embed regulatory and housing standards in daily practice.


What You Bring:

* Proven experience in a Quality, Compliance or Governance role within supported housing, social care, housing management or a regulated environment.
* Strong working knowledge of UK social care and housing legislation.
* Experience supporting ISO 9001, CHAS or similar accreditation frameworks.
* Experience conducting audits, inspections and managing corrective action plans.
* Excellent analytical, report writing and organisational skills.
* A proactive and solution-focused approach with strong attention to detail.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
* A Level 4 or Level 5 qualification in Health and Social Care, Housing, Governance or Quality Management (or equivalent) is required.
* An Internal Auditor qualification (ISO 9001 or equivalent) is desirable.


Work Schedule:

Working Hours:

* Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (Hybrid working is not available for this position) - East London Head Office Plexal Here East E20 3BS

Contract: Full Time, Fixed Term (12 months).


DBS Requirement

An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. Candidates not on the DBS Update Service will need to cover the cost of a new check.
