CNC Operator - Night Shift
Location: Glasgow, GLG, GB, G42 0PT
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Join Dover Precision Components as a Skilled CNC Operator in a fully integrated Computer Aided Manufacturing facility. Utilize CNC machining centres for turning, milling, and grinding to produce customized designs from various materials including steel, copper, brass, aluminium, and bronze.
The facility features a broad range of multi-axis machine tools, lathes, mills, and associated equipment. The workload includes high-mix, customized fluid-film bearings, seals, and isolators for turbo and industrial machinery, serving customers across Europe and beyond.
Please Note: This is a permanent night-shift position with a 33.3% shift premium, offering total annual earnings of £50,743.90 plus productivity bonuses, pension, and life insurance.
What You Will Bring
* HNC or SVQ/NVQ level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant apprenticeship
* At least 5 years' experience operating CNC machine tools in a lean manufacturing environment
* Experience as a Turner / performing turning operations with CNC lathes / turning centres
* Knowledge of machine control systems such as Fanuc, Mazak, Heidenhain, or Haas
* Ability to hold tight machining tolerances (<0.0025mm)
* Experience with precision inspection equipment like micrometers, callipers, height gauges, and bore gauges
* Ideally, experience in power generation, oil & gas, aerospace, or similar industries
What You Will Do
* Read process sheets, blueprints, and sketches to determine machining requirements
* Download and interpret programs from DNC storage systems
* Select and install proper tooling based on work instructions
* Calculate feeds and speeds for various materials
* Edit or write CNC programs as needed
* Understand tooling and machinery capabilities
* Perform quality inspections and apply Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce setup times and improve productivity
* Inspect final components visually and dimensionally
* Prepare parts for shipment, including cleaning, oiling, wrapping, and boxing
* Perform cleaning, fitting, filing, tapping, reaming, blending, polishing, and aligning to ensure proper operation
* Use precision measuring instruments for quality verification
* Identify components after assembly/manufacture
