Paediatric Planned Care Sister/Charge Nurse

Department: Paediatric Planned Care

Band 6, £38,682 - £46,580 Per annum, pro rata

Hours: Full time, 37.5 per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working


About the role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated nurse to join our Paediatric Planned Care team as a Sister/Charge Nurse at Milton Keynes University Hospital. This role offers the opportunity to work across a range of paediatric settings including the Paediatric Outpatient Department, Day Care, Day Surgery and Acute Paediatric areas, supporting babies, children and young people attending for planned care.

You will play a key role in coordinating care, supporting consultant‑led and nurse‑led clinics and ensuring children and their families receive safe, high‑quality, family‑centred care throughout their hospital journey.

Responsibilities

* Coordinate care and support consultant‑led and nurse‑led clinics across paediatric planned settings.
* Ensure the delivery of safe, high‑quality, family‑centred care for children and families throughout their journey.
* Lead and role‑model for junior staff and students, fostering a positive, compassionate, learning‑focused environment.
* Support staff development, mentoring colleagues, and contributing to service improvement, quality initiatives and pathway development.
* Champion continuous improvement and help shape the future of paediatric planned care within Children’s Services at MKUH.


Qualifications and experience

* Registered Nurse with relevant paediatric nursing experience.
* Experience in a leadership or clinical lead role is desirable.
* Willingness to work across multiple paediatric settings and support a team‑led approach.
* Good communication skills and a commitment to quality and patient safety.
