Laboratory Test Technician

£18 per hour

Join Our R&D Laboratory Team
We're looking for a motivated and technically minded Laboratory Test Technician to support the testing, qualification and development of Respiratory and Self‑Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) products. This is a hands‑on role within a highly specialised R&D environment where your work directly contributes to product safety, innovation, and global certification.

What You'll Be Doing
Product Testing & Compliance
Perform testing on Respiratory and SCBA products in line with EN Standards
Support development, qualification, pre‑compliance and audit testing
Assist with current and future certification activities for respiratory protection products
Documentation & Test Method Support
Understand existing test methods and update documentation as required
Liaise with global test laboratories to align testing approaches and improve procedures
Support the Quality Management System to maintain R&D laboratory accreditation
Calibration & Laboratory Support
Support the calibration of test equipment in accordance with schedules
Assist with safety audits and risk assessments
Manage consumables and ensure equipment readiness
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with product engineers, developers, certification teams and R&D colleagues
Support data collection, interpretation and reporting in accordance with QMS requirements
Use MS Word, Excel and Teams for documentation and communication
What We're Looking For
Essential Qualifications & Skills
HNC, HND or Degree in Engineering (or a related discipline)
Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret data
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with Word, Excel, Teams
Experience working with test equipment or laboratory processes
Desirable
Understanding of respiratory protection or SCBA performance and testing
Knowledge of EN standards for respiratory equipment
Awareness of gas & vapour testing methods
Familiarity with reusable respirators, powered and supplied air products
Experience with Minitab or other statistical software
