Citizens Advice offers confidential advice online, over the phone, and in person, for free. Through our national network of charities, we give people the knowledge and the confidence they need to find their way forward whoever they are, and whatever their problem. Join the Cymru Advisory Group Help Shape the Future of Citizens Advice in Wales We are currently seeking three independent members and we welcome applications from individuals with or without prior committee or advisory group experience to join the Cymru Advisory Group a formal advisory group reporting to the national trustee board. About the Cymru Advisory Group The Cymru Advisory Group plays a critical role in ensuring the voices, perspectives, and needs of Citizens Advice services across Wales are represented at the national level. The Group brings together senior leaders to: Inform national leadership and trustees on strategic issues and opportunities specific to Wales. Promote collaboration across the local Citizens Advice network in Wales. Strengthen communication with key Welsh stakeholders, including the Senedd, Welsh Government, and other influential bodies. Explore the political, economic and social landscape to help shape strategic priorities for Citizens Advice Cymru. Advise on Welsh language duties and bilingual service delivery, ensuring compliance and ambition in supporting all communities. What We re Looking For We are inviting applications from individuals who have: Understanding of a complex federated organisation / structure within a UK / England and Wales context Experience of public affairs - recognition and skills in navigating the complex political and charity sector in Wales and the UK Governance - experience of working at a senior level across a complex federated organisation / structure from a Wales perspective (this could be across charitable, commercial or statutory sectors) Stakeholder engagement and Public affairs - significant experience and skills in navigating the complex current political and charity sector in Wales and the UK Health and Care sectors - experience at a senior level across health or care sectors to support our work in promoting the impact of advice in reducing health inequalities in Wales (and the challenges and opportunities this raises for our work in these spaces over the next 5 years) Business and commercial experience (including technology) to support our thinking about new ways of working, market and strategic positioning Your Responsibilities as a Group Member Help shape and monitor the Group s work-plan. Stay informed of emerging strategic developments, risks, and opportunities across Citizens Advice Cymru. Support the Wales national team in their engagement with the Senedd, Welsh Government, and other partners. Advise the trustee board on: Welsh language strategy and compliance Political, demographic and legislative developments unique to Wales Strategic priorities and areas for investment or collaboration Share the work and insights of the group across the Citizens Advice Cymru network. The Citizens Advice service is made up of our national organisation, Citizens Advice, and 239 local Citizens Advice, all independent registered charities. Our service provides advice on a range of issues - including benefits, debt, discrimination, energy, housing, immigration and work. In 2024 to 2025, we helped 2.71 million people - by phone, email, webchat or in person. Our website had over 44 million visits and 60.7 million page views. Our Witness Service supported 79,000 witnesses in courts and we also gave pension guidance to people aged over 50.
